More content about remote usability testing

There are a bunch of articles being written about remote (or online) user research recently. It's clearly a sign that this methodology is quickly becoming more and more popular. Here's a few examples:

“What a fantastic UPA conference this year gathering in the beautiful city of Munich. With an attendance level in excess of 700 travelling to congregate from Asia, North & South America, Asia Pacific and of course representatives from every county in Europe – we must have had all of them descend on our booth as the footfall and interest in UserZoom was truly overwhelming. Early expectations is that this was a huge success for UserZoom as the senior level of UX Pro’s interested in taking up the UserZoom ‘All in One’ UX tool to conduct numerous types of research across the world is what it is all about”.

Debunking the Myths of Online Usability Testing

Bill Albert's motivation for this article is to help UX researchers keep an open mind about online usability testing. There are some researchers who have been using this approach for years and find it useful (in certain situations). Others are new to it, and wanting to learn more about its strength and limitations. Finally, some UX researchers have already formed an opinion about online usability testing, and deemed it not useful for a variety of (unfounded) reasons. He hopes by exposing these myths, we (as a UX community) can evaluate this tool based on its actual merits.

Recent earthquake tragedies in both Haiti and Chile and the generous outpouring of support have put a spotlight on the challenges of collecting charitable donations effectively. A recent study by the Design and Usability Center at Bentley University, in partnership with UserZoom, shows that the degree of usability on organizations’ websites varies greatly in relation to their incoming online donations.
